GOP Establishment: Trump Can't Beat Hillary

This last great attempt to take Trump out of contention may or may not work, but either way it's baloney.  I am quite familiar with the poll numbers being waved about by the GOP establishment showing that Trump can't beat Hillary.  But, they're nonsense.

The GOP establishment felt that Jeb! would be their man.  That idea went up in smoke pretty quickly.  Next, they pinned their hopes on Rubio.  Chris Christi stuck a pin in that.  And all the while Trump went up, up, up.  In time, it came down to Trump, Cruz, and Kasich.  As of this moment, Cruz is significantly behind Trump and Kasich, everyone's darling, is way way, way behind in delegates.

Whatever negatives Trump may have, those of Cruz are greater.  And, Kasich is too far behind in the delegate count.  So now the GOP establishment has decided to hope Trump doesn't reach the required number of delegates that would give him a victory.  They're pinning their hopes on a  brokered convention. This would help them get rid of both Trump and Cruz.

But, why?  Why would the GOP establishment seek to get rid of Trump?  There are two reasons.  The first is phony.  They argue that Trump can't beat Hillary.  The second reason is the real reason.  They feel they can't control Trump.  He wants competitive bidding by the drug companies for government controlled drug business.  He wants insurance companies to compete on a national basis, not state by state.  He understands that our trade treaties were vetted by America's major companies and that as they did so, they put their interests ahead of the country's.  Then there's the ethanol fuel boondoggle for the farmers.  For Carrier Air Conditioning to move to Mexico doesn't bother GOP industrialists.  But what about the workers?   And, on and on.  The GOP establishment wants the same-old-same-old.  That may not be good for America, but they simply don't give a damn.  So now they've come up with this argument that Trump won't be able to beat Hillary.

Don't you believe it.  Trump wiped clean the GOP field.  He can do the same with Hillary.  And, the GOP establishment knows that.  But, they also know that they can make their deals with Hillary more reliably than they can with Trump.  Trump is an unknown.  Hillary has traded favors for years.  What were those quarter million dollar speeches to the bankers all about?
